Civic Coalition for Free and Fair Elections welcomes intention to amend Election Code
The Civic Coalition for Free and Fair Elections Tuesday sent a letter to the special parliamentary commission for improving the electoral legislation, whereby it asks that a number of articles from the bill to amend the Election Code be modified, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the Coalition.
The Coalition welcomes the authorities' intention to improve the electoral legislation by the bill that was submitted to the Parliament on February 26.
In the letter, the Coalition included a number of proposals and recommendations for improving the Election Code. It asks examining the articles that regulate the role of the observers in elections, the campaigning, the distribution of airtime to electoral opponents, the work of the public mass media during election campaigns, etc.
While the bill was being drafted, the Coalition put forward a number of proposals and amendments designed to improve the electoral rolls and ensure the voting abroad, the impartial coverage of the elections and effective electoral education activities, it is said in the communique.
The Coalition intends to actively participate in the discussion of the bill during public debates.
