City Hall requests another date for the Wine Day
The Chisinau City Hall asked the Agro-Industrial Agency “Moldova-Vin” to establish a different date for the celebration of the Wine Day, so that it doesn’t overlap with the City Day of Chisinau.
Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca told Info-Prim Neo that a request of such kind was sent to “Moldova-Vin” last Friday and they are expecting a response as soon as possible. Chirtoaca stated that he would like to solve this issue on a compromise basis “without pressures from anyone”.
Asked whether he might not authorise the celebration of the Wine Day for October 13 and 14, as specified, the mayor of the capital stated that he hopes that “Moldova-Vin” will cooperate.
The mayor also said that he would prefer to avoid the situation where he would have to favour one of these holidays, although the preference for the City Day is much stronger.
Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev has recently said it is a coincidence that this year we will have two holidays on the same day. According to the Premier, this fact should not be politicised as the Great National Assembly Square “has the capacity to host all the kind-hearted people attending”.
