City Hall of Chisinau to purchase 50 new trolleybuses by the end of the year
The City Hall of the Municipality of Chisinau plans to purchase 50 more trolleybuses till the end of this year, the interim Mayor Vasile Ursu declared on Monday, November 13.
In order to carry out these intentions, the Mayor says it is necessary to pay all the current debts to the budget. According to statistics, the debts amount to MDL 55 mln. Ursu asked the leadership of the Fiscal Inspectorate from Chisinau to undertake all the necessary measures in order to persuade the economic agents to pay the debts, because only by paying all the taxes it will be possible to improve the financial situation of the city.
Previously, 20 new buses and trolleybuses were purchased as a result of the over-planned fiscal accumulations amounting to MDL 100 mln.
In July 2006 were purchased 10 ЮМЗ trolleybuses, produced in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine. Another 10 trolleybuses of this type should have been bought in September, but the event did not take place. One ЮМЗ trolleybus costs USD 140 thousand.
Also due to the over-incomes, they City Hall purchased 20 German MAN buses, estimated at MDL 50 mln.
The head of the Transport Department, Veaceslav Tarna told previously Info-Prim Neo that more trolleybuses and buses are planned to be bought with the financial means provided by the Republican budget or through different investment programs till the end of this year.
About 230 trolleybuses and over 100 buses are circulating on the routes of Chisinau.
