The Chisinau City Hall confirms indirectly that the central and local authorities have finally reached an agreement on the time and place for the celebration of the Wine Day and Chisinau’s City Day. Officially, both of the holidays were scheduled for Sunday, October 14, with dissenting voices questioning the capacity of the Great National Assembly Square to host both of them. But a press release from the municipality has recently informed that the Wine Day will start a day earlier than scheduled, and the next day the organisers of the event will have a couple of hours to hold an awarding ceremony in the Square. The press release makes reference to a meeting called by the city authorities to discuss the preparations for the City Day, including issues like holiday lighting, special arrangements for public transport, fairs, public order, programme of the show in the Great National Assembly Square, clean-up measures, and others. This year Chisinau City celebrates its 571st anniversary of foundation. 30 delegations from 17 countries are expected to participate in the celebration.
