City Hall aims to give own architectural style to buildings in Chisinau
The buildings in Chisinau will have their own architectural style in several years. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca Monday said the City Hall and the central authorities as well as the people will contribute to restoring the historical center and the entire city, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Much more money is needed to restore the historical center than for transport and roads. We must not only conserve the city’s historical center, but also give Chisinau its own architectural style. It will be hard to do it given that most of the buildings date from 1950,” said the mayor.
Dorin Chirtoaca asked the people to send pictures of the old buildings of Chisinau to the City Hall so that the municipal administration decides what style to use. “The works should start next year, when it grows warmer. Certain legislative documents should be amended so as to ban the modification of the architectural structure of the buildings,” said Dorin Chirtoaca.
The Architecture, Urbanism and Land Relations Division is to present the architectural conception of Chisinau in a week. The City Hall earlier banned the demolition of monument-buildings of local and national importance.
