The 76th neighbourhood sector was opened at Police Sector No. 3 of the Buiucani Police Inspectorate. Citizens who live nearby and who pledged to be useful to the police will become involved in its work, IPN reports.
Lilian Pascaru, chief of the Buiucani Police Inspectorate, said the 75 neighbourhood sectors opened so far worked successfully, with the crime rate being decreased by 15%. The cooperation between the police and the citizens enable to better know the problems faced in the community.
Head of the General Police Inspectorate Alexandru Pinzari said the police cannot work efficiently if they do not involve the people in activities and do not establish good partnership relations with them. Nationwide, there are over 3,000 neighbourhood sectors with 31,000 members. Until now these sectors discovered about 90 offenses.
