The state-run company “Registru” launched a new service for the people who want to order a biometric passport at home, at the office or elsewhere. The new service costs 450 lei, besides the price of the biometric passport. Prime Minister Vlad Filat was the first beneficiary of the service, Info-Prim Neo reports. Those who want to be issued with a biometric passport at home will call “Registru” or will make an appointment on-line. Afterward, a mobile team of the company will come with the necessary technical equipment at the applicant’s home to collect the necessary data. The Premier’s data were collected in the Government Building. After that, Vlad Filat traveled to the Document Issuing Office in Centru distrust, where he was issued with the diplomatic biometric passport. An “eGate” automated state border crossing control system intended for holders of biometric passports was installed at the Chisinau International Airport. It examines the biometric passports of the Moldovans without the involvement of employees of the Border Guard Service. The project was launched in concert with the Chisinau International Airport and the Border Guard Service. At the end of the event, Vlad Filat said he was satisfied with the new service. “The socially deprived groups of people will benefit from the mobile service free of charge,” he stated. Minister of Information and Communication Technology Pavel Filip said the extension of the range of services provided for the population is a priority for the Ministry, which is aimed at improving the quality of the services. A biometric passport issued in 30 days costs 700 lei.
