Citizen complains law-enforcers don't return him money used to catch corrupt prosecutor

A Moldovan complains he cannot get back the money he gave to the law-enforcing bodies to catch a corrupted prosecutor red-handed. Victor Sendrea told a news conference on Wednesday that in fall of 2006 he was arrested for a minor offense. Scared by the police the situation was more serious, the man says he called a friend employed by the Prosecutor's Office. He suggested Sendrea can be spared from the trial against $3,000, money to be paid to the prosecutor. Later, the man changed his mind and noticed the Economic Crimes and Corruption Combating Center (ECCCC), Info-Prim Neo reports. Victor Sendrea says he gave the ECCCC officers $900 to organize a red-handed catch. Asked by journalists, the man couldn't explain why they did not use notes marked by the ECCCC, as is the custom. According to him, although the prosecutor was caught, he was spared from punishment and still works in the law-enforcement bodies. Victor Sendrea says he wrote complaints to the President, the Parliament, the ECCC and the General Prosecutor, but in vain. “Every time the authorities promised me the money would be returned in 2-3 days, but those were but statements,” said Victor Sendrea, specifying he was called by officials from the Prosecutor's Office right before the conference promising him the things would be settled. Sources from the General Prosecutor's Office have confirmed they received complaints from Victor Sendrea to return the money. Yet the prosecutor dealing with the case was not to be found comment the accusations.
