Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița, who took part in the online meeting of CIS Heads of State, underlined that this community has potential to become a more efficient and successful association if it’s major goal is to increase the people’s wellbeing, IPN reports.
Reminding of her experience of work on international platforms in Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Natalia Gavrilița said the Republic of Moldova is ready to deliver competitive and high-quality agricultural products and also industrial products. “I’m sure that our countries have great potential for developing the bilateral relations, which hasn’t been fully used. I consider that one of the tasks of the CIS is to realize this potential of the commercial and economic relations,” stated the Moldovan Premier.
She noted that Moldova has always spoken about the importance of eliminating the barriers from the path of bilateral trade based on the mechanisms existing in the CIS. “We would like to see this free trade area really free, without commercial restrictions that were regrettably imposed on a series of Moldovan goods that are very important for our exporters,” said Natalia Gavrilița.
She noted that the free trade regime between Moldova and the EU is not an obstacle to the cooperation with the CIS. “We consider this will make our country more attractive to the partners from the CIS... We are confident that the future depends on the openness to integration, union of the free trade areas, elimination of barriers and impediments to free movement of goods, services and people, open and mutually advantageous cooperation that increases the welfare of our citizens and countries.”
Given the disastrous effects of the pandemic, Natalia Gavrilița urged to take common action to step up economic cooperation and to strengthen interaction in trade, transport and communications.
As to the future agenda of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Natalia Gavrilița said that Moldova in 2023 will host the Forum of CIS Cultural Capitals in the southern town Comrat.
