CIS observers to monitor election campaign and April 5 elections

A team of 80 observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), 30 of whom from Russia, will monitor the election campaign and the April 5 legislative elections, the first vice president of the delegation of the CIS Executive Committee Vladzimir Garkun announced on Monday, March 16, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Garkun, the delegation will start work from Monday and will make the monitoring results public on April 6, the next day after elections. Garkun said that the delegation will have representatives in most of the districts of Moldova. It will also monitor the activity of the media outlets involved in the campaign. The delegation will be composed of MPs, diplomats and civil servants, the official said. He refused to describe the manner in which the election campaign was conducted until present. A part of the CIS observers wee accredited at the last meeting of the Central Election Commission. Also then, the Commission accredited international observers on behalf of the Embassy of Ukraine in Moldova, including Ambassador Serghii Pzrozhkov.
