Circulation and Internet Audit Bureau sets up

The first organization to research and provide data about newspaper circulation and Internet traffic has been instituted in Moldova for the first time. It's name is the Circulation and Internet Audit Bureau (BATIM). It is constituted from 22 members: editors, advertising suppliers and advertising agencies, Info-Prim Neo reports. The constitution assembly of the BATIM was held on July 10. It's part of a project of the Independent Journalism Center's (IJC). Irina Iurcisin, a program coordinator at the IJC, has told a news conference that the BATIM is a non-profit organization, created by the advertising industry from Moldova, pursuing to offer media information to be used in advertising deals. “The BATIM is open to all the media organizations, regardless of language, editorial content or political orientation, to advertising procurers and advertising agencies,” she said. Liviu Burlacu, the general secretary of a similar bureau from Hungary (MATESZ) has said the advertising market in Moldova grows, and the media must be transparent, what will held the media industry. The BATIM;s executive manager will be Alexandru Burdeinai, the director of the news agency “InfoMarket” SRL. The BATIM will have a board of 7 members. “Immediately after the registration procedure, we'll create at setting up the auditing system,” Alexandru Burdeinai said. The BATIM's founders are 14 media institutions, 5 advertising agencies and 3 ad clients. They shall pay a monthly fee of 350 lei.
