Ciocana District could become overpopulated
Chisinau’s Ciocana district could become overpopulated in the several next years because of the high number of apartment blocks which are being constructed at preset, District Mayor of Ciocana Ion Gabura told the session of the City Hall on Monday, July 9.
According to him, in 9 out of 11 territorial divisions of Ciocana district there are 54 apartment blocks under construction, and the construction of 20 more buildings is planned to be started by the end of the year.
At the same time, builders do not plan to build infrastructure establishments, such as schools, kindergartens etc, a fact which should worry the local authorities, Gabura says.
This situation is considered disastrous because according to statistics, building of new apartment blocks will attract by 2008 an inflow of 12-18 thousand new inhabitants to the district. But already now there are few available places in the kindergartens and schools of Ciocana.
The estimations of the district mayor show that the administration of the City will have to provide 4-6 thousand places in schools and kindergartens in the district, as about one third of the new inhabitants of Ciocana will be children.
Ion Gabura called attention of Chisinau Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca to the fact that the district administration proposed the Chisinau Municipal Council in 2005 and 2006 several draft decisions on allotting lands for the construction of kindergartens and schools, but until now the fate of these projects remains unknown.
