The Moldovan Greco-Roman wrestlers Victor Ciobanu and Donior Islamov were sent home early from the World Championships taking place in Paris.
Victor Ciobanu was eliminated in the last-sixteen stage. He started nicely in the 59 kg category qualifications by defeating France’s Leo Alexandre Sylvain Tudezca, 7-5. But then surrendered to Azerbaijan’s Taleh Mamadov, 9-12.
In the 66 kg category, Donior Islamov lost in the last-32 stage to Serbia’s Mate Nemes, 1-2.
Yesterday Daniel Cataraga came in the fifth place in the 71 kg category, after being defeated in the semifinals by the German Frank Staebler, who went on to become champion.
