The cinema centers of Moldova and Romania will cooperate more intensely following the signing of a cooperation agreement that refers to cinematography, film distribution and cinematographic archive, IPN reports.
Director of the National Cinema Center of Moldova Valeriu Jereghi said the accord enables to develop joint cinematography on both sides of the Prut. “For us, it is a very emotional day because the National Cinema Center of Moldova signs the first cooperation agreement with Romania and this is a start for us,” he stated.
The accord is also important for the young filmmakers of Moldova as it enables them to cooperate with Romanian filmmakers and offers them the possibility of launching serials.
“For us, this is first of all a guarantee that the initiation of international co-production will allow us to take our cinematography to a new level or at least to tend to this,” said Valeriu Jereghi. The film director added he wants the amateurism in Moldova to rise to a professional level.
Anca Mitran, president general of the National Cinema Center of Romania, said this agreement is related to all the parts of cinematography – production, film distribution, organization of filmmaking promotion activities and provision of assistance in the field. “The accord covers the whole area of cinematographic activity. It also refers to the film archives possessed by the two institutions,” she stated.
According to Anca Mitran, the agreement envisions the staging of Moldovan film galas in Romania and of Romanian film galas in Moldova and the promotion of the heritage of the Moldovan and Romanian cinematography.
