A group of priests and faithful persons called upon the authorities to repent. They said that the rulers betrayed the Church by the anti-Christian projects promoted, including the Law on Equality of Chances. Chairman of “Pro-Ortodoxia” Association Ghenadie Valuta told a news conference that the Orthodox Church offers them one more chance to repent and confess their sins, especially now that it is Holy Week, IPN reports.
“Apostle Peter sinned, but repented and God gave him the keys to heaven. But Judas sold Christ and then, being shrewd, hanged himself,” said Ghenadie Valuta.
Priest Maxim Guzun, a representative of the Bishopric of Balti and Falesti, said that some of the bills adopted lately cannot be accepted by the Church. “Remember the promises of Vlad Filat, who said that if we accept the Muslim minority and homosexuality in our society, we will have money and will travel visa-free to Europe. But this didn’t happen and will not happen. We urge the alliance to repent, to review the Law on Equality of Chances and to withdraw the porno books from schools. The adjustment of the laws imposed by Europe to our traditions would be the best sign of penance,” said the priest.
Jurist of the Christian Democratic People’s Party Vlad Busila said there are no reasons justifying the Law on Equality of Chances. “The pro-European tendency represents only a maneuver that is propagandistic in character,” he added.
Priest Roman, from Glodeni town, said that the authorities should guide the people to penance, not suffering. “Only by public penance can they be accepted back into the Church,” he stated
Ex-security minister Anatol Plugaru said the European road brings prospects, but we should take only what is the best from Europe. “They discriminated against their own people. The people from villages will ask them in the next elections if they were in favor or against this law,” he stated.
The law on equality of chances was passed by Parliament in May 2012.
