An illegally built church on the grounds of kindergarten no. 150 in Chișinău has not been demolished, even though a decision to this effect was issued in October last year. The issue was communicated on Wednesday at the Chișinău Municipal Council meeting.

Ala Revenco, Public Association "Părinți Solidari" representative, said that the building permit was issued to the General Department for education, youth and sport. Initially, a library, which included a center for moral and spiritual education, was to be built, however, eventually the construction of a church began. For more than a year, during holidays and on Sundays, sermons were held. Ala Revenco said that she has notified all possible bodies, but "the authorities are unable to enforce the law on kindergarten grounds". Ala Revenco added that all kinds of people come to the church, some of whom are suspicious, which is not good for the 300 children that attend the kindergarten.

Victor Chironda, deputy mayor responsible for urbanism and urban mobility, said that he had a meeting with the building’s architect and informed him that the demolition order must be executed. Victor Chironda considers that it is the responsibility of DGETS, as well as of the kindergarten management, which allowed this construction to be conducted, to monitor its demolition.
