Almost half of the Church “Assumption of Mary” located in Climauti village of Donduseni district burned in a fire. The roof and about 40% of the construction were engulfed in flames in the evening of November 29. The bishop of the church suffered hand burns.

Contacted by IPN, press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service Liliana Puscasu said a part of things inside the church were also destroyed by fire. Four firefighting vehicles were on the scene immediately. The bishop tried to localize the fire before the firemen arrived and suffered burns on his hands. He was admitted to the Donduseni District Hospital and he is now out of danger.

The over 1,400 fires that occurred in Moldova so far this year resulted in the death of 106 persons, seven of whom were children.
