Church calls for toleration and understanding for victims of human trafficking

The member churches of the Inter-confessional Coalition for Preventing Human Trafficking will officiate on Sunday, December 2, the National Day of Prayer. Christians are invited to join the prayers for those who plan to leave the country, for the people who are currently abroad, for those who suffered and victims of human trafficking. The heads of the Christian Churches in Moldova have signed a joint declaration in which they express their attitude and the will for a continuous fight with trafficking in humans, a communiqué of the International Organisation for Migration reads. This is the next step accomplished by the church officials, after having already organised numerous informational seminars in the country’s districts, filming a documentary with testimonials from human trafficking victims as well as publishing of a guide entitled “Preventing human trafficking through pastoral and didactic activities”. The declaration also represents a manifesto which encourages the community, churches and families to be more tolerant and understanding towards the victims. The idea of a joint declaration came from the act of constituting the Inter-Confessional Coalition for Preventing Human Trafficking, members of which are the Moldovan Metropolitan, the Bessarabian Metropolitan, the Union of Christian Baptist Evangelic Church and the Lutheran Church in Moldova (ELCRM).
