Cinemagoers are invited to the Film Festival “Chronograph Evenings”. Seventeen films will be shown at four locations in Moldova during July 14 and 17 and 11 of these will be premiered. Entrance is free of charge only at the open-air venues (pedestrian street “Eugen Doga” and parks “Valea Morilor” and “La izvor”). Tickets need to be bought for films screened at Patria Cinema, IPN reports.

According to the head of the Culture Division Valentina Volontir, the idea of merging the “Chronograph” Film Festival and the Festival “I Greet You, Chisinau” appeared after “Chronograph” director Virgiliu Mărgineanu proposed cooperating in order to extend the relations and to ensure a high-quality intercultural dialogue.

For his part, Virgiliu Mărgineanu noted the idea of promoting the national filmmakers in this edition is aimed at making the artists known at home.

National Cinematography Center director Valentina Iusuphodjaev said an increasing number of Moldovan filmmakers become famous abroad. Their data show at least ten film directors work successfully outside the country.

The festival starts with the film “Alexandra”, directed by Violeta Gorgos. This is about the success story of Alexandra Conunova, a Moldovan violinist who conquers the biggest stages in the world.

“After each screening, there will be held meetings with the authors. The public can put questions to the film directors and can criticize them if the criticism is constructive,” stated Virgiliu Mărgineanu.

Started in 2001, the International Documentary Film Festival “Chronograph” this year celebrates its 20th anniversary.
