A 25 meters tall fir tree that is going to be lit in a traditional Christmas ceremony in Chisinau's National Assembly Square has arrived at the destination on Saturday, November 26, Info-Prim Neo reports. Eliferie Haruta, the city's chief arborist, said the tree, which will measure 26 meters together with the base, is the tallest in the last two decades. The tree was brought Saturday morning from the village of Bozieni, Hancesti district. Installation and adornment works will end on November 30, in time to be lit in an inauguration ceremony on December 1. The tree, which has cost the Chisinau City Hall 11,000 lei, will remain standing in the central square until 15 January, the next day after New Year as per the Julian calendar, which remains in use by the Moldovan Orthodox Church.
