About 10,000 children from Moldova will receive Christmas presents and messages sent by families from Germany. Weiss Seter, the representative of the German club Roundtable Deutschland, said that children from all over Germany made the presents for fellows from other countries with much joy and commitment. In Moldova, the presents will be distributed to orphans, children with disabilities and from socially deprived families, IPN reports.

“This way, we bring Christmas joy to thousands of children and are very glad to see the huge joy on their faces when they receive the parcels,” Weiss Seter said in a news conference in Chisinau.

The representative of Rotary Club Moldova Adrian Potlog said the beneficiaries of this charity act were selected based on lists presented by social workers from all the country’s districts, the small children being given priority. The gifts are distributed by representatives of Roundtable Deutschland, in concert with Moldovan volunteers.

Next year there will be prepared more presents, said Adrian Potlog. The children from Moldova are also urged to make presents for socially disadvantaged children.

Invited to the conference, the Ambassador of Germany to Moldova Matthias Meyer said he was very glad to hear about the German volunteers’ action. According to him, there are kindhearted people everywhere, in Germany and in Moldova too. “The Germans have always been preoccupied with the fate of the Moldovan children. By this action, we want to bring happiness in children’s eyes and we hope we will succeed,” stated Matthias Meyer.
