Christmas Fair enhanced by rural children’s handicrafts

The Delegation of Swiss Foundation “Terre des homes” will present at the annual Christmas Fair a large variety of handicrafts made by children from 25 Moldovan villages, Info-Prim Neo reports. The children’s creations, including pictures, drawings, handworks, show how a family should look like, describe things that make them happy and send messages to parents abroad or about their future profession. The handicrafts were made during activities meant to improve, through games and learning, the psycho-social state of children who are at an increased risk of abuse, exploitation or neglect. According to “Terre des hommes”, such group activities for children are part of the protection services offered by local authorities within the Social Network for Child’s Protection project, implemented in Soroca, Ungheni and Chisinau. As a result of such psycho-social oriented activities, children become more confident, open-minded and acquire more personal and social skills, they express their feelings and thoughts freely, according to a “Terre des hommes” press release. The annual Christmas Fair opened on Saturday, December 4, at Moldexpo.
