Christians that fasted during Lent urged to eat more vegetables and fruit on Easter
Practically all the types of food on the Easter table are real caloric bombs and if eaten in excess can have serious repercussions for health, especially for the persons that fasted. After Lent, the people should eat more vegetables and fruit because they stimulate the secretion of gastric juice and ease digestion, said Viorica Curcudel, family doctor at the Centru Medical Association in Chisinau.
The doctors recommend taking digestion pills during the Easter feast or after it or eating pressed cheese, which also eases digestion, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The abstinence from products of animal origin during certain periods of time can have a detox effect. In order to maintain this effect, we must eat correctly after Lent. “Do not consume much fatty meat and eggs as they contain a lot of cholesterol that is harmful to health,” Viorica Curcudel warns. We must also take into account that the eggs are used to prepare the traditional cakes and eating three eggs a day is already too much.
Excessive consumption of sweets and citrus fruit can lead to allergies in children, while excessive drinking can aggravate the condition of the persons that suffer from pancreas, liver and gallbladder disorders.
The doctors also recommend preparing dishes from fresh products and not in large quantities.
The number of persons that complain of gastrointestinal disorders increases during feast days.
