Christians of 14 world Orthodox Churches will say “Jesus is risen”

Hundreds of millions of Christians from all over the world, who form part of 14 Orthodox Churches, will celebrate Easter with paschal bread and red eggs on May 5. The head of the Moldovan Metropolitan Church’s press service Nicolae Carlig has told IPN that these churches are named sister-churches because they recognize each other.

Easter on the same day is celebrated by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople; the Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa; the Patriarchate of Antioch and all Orient; the Patriarchate of Jerusalem; the Patriarchate of Moscow and all Russia; the Patriarchate of Romania; the Patriarchate of Serbia; the Patriarchate of Bulgaria; the Patriarchate of Georgia; the Church of Cyprus; the Church of Greece; the Church of Albania; the Church of Poland, and the Church of the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Priests say Easter is the holiday of holidays for the Orthodox Christians. The week after Easter until Low Sunday is called the Bright Week and it must be observed in high moods. Afterward the Christians will go to graves to pray, give alms and make presents.
