Christian-Evangelist-Baptist school in Sangereii Noi might be closed
The Christian-Evangelist-Baptist school in Sangereii Noi village has worked for nine years as a branch of the Sangerei-based theoretical high school “Alecu Russo” without foundation documents. The Education Ministry and the local public administration asked the education institution to present the necessary set of documents by October 29. Otherwise, the school will be closed, Info-Prim Neo reports.
A group of specialists of the Ministry and the district administration met with parents of the children who go to this school.
Petru Gherman, the vice president of Sangerei district, said there is no decision allowing opening such an institution. According to him, the documents were to be submitted first to the local public administration and then to the Government, which was to take a final decision as regards the creation of the institution.
Elena Rusu, deputy head of the Education Ministry's Preschool and General Education Division, said the given school cannot continue work as it has only 11 teachers, two of whom do not have higher education. “If the required documents are not presented by October 29 and if the school does not have qualified personnel it may be closed,” Elena Rusu said.
The reason why the parents decided to take their children to a private school is the atmosphere in the rural state high schools. “We want to protect our children from the wrongdoings committed there,” said the father of five children, who study at the school. He also said that the students and teachers in rural high schools wear indecent and provoking clothes.
Children's ombudsman Tamara Plamadeala said that the right to education of the children attending the Baptist school is infringed as the curriculum approved by the Education Ministry is ignored.
Ion Railean, the principal of the theoretical high school “Alecu Russo”, runs the risk of being sanctioned for not informing the Eduction Ministry and competent divisions about the foundation of the school. Elena Rusu said the punishment was not yet decided.
The first 13 graduates of the Christian-Evangelist-Baptist school in Sangereii Noi have received diplomas this year, but Elena Rusu said the certificates are not valid as they do not include a mandatory subject – informatics.
The school is now attended by 85 children. Fifty-one of them are ninth-twelfth graders. The lessons last for 45 minutes, but start 15 minutes earlier so that the student could pray.
