Chlorine quantity in tap water has been increased due to hot weather

The Chisinau water supplier has decided to increase, as a result of the high temperatures registered lately, the quantity of residual free chlorine in the water delivered to consumers. According to a press release from the City Hall, the “Apa-Canal Chisinau” JSC announced that the level of the residual free chlorine in the supplied water was increased to the advisable proportions of 0.5 – 0.7 mg/dm³. The decision was taken as a result of the recommendations of the municipal Centre for Prophylactic Medicine, to annihilate the risks of water infestation and prevent cases of sickness among consumers. The water supplier says that increased quantities of chlorine will be added in the process of water treatment in the period from June to August. At the same time, experts from “Apa-Canal Chisinau” advise the Chisinau consumers to keep the water used for cooking and drinking in open containers for 2-3 hours so as to remove chlorine.
