Chisinau's water supplier warned by power distributor again
The power distributor Union Fenosa asks the water supplier “Apa-Canal Chisinau” (ACC) to pay 12 million lei within 10 days for the power consumption in May and 2 million lei for April, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Later last week, ACC paid Union Fenosa 900,000, but the former had to block other payments. “ACC's financial situation is very grave. We have not to pay the salaries to our employees, for fuel. All the money is channeled to Union Fenosa,” ACC's manager Constantin Becciev addressed the city hall's staff sitting on Monday.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca has shown himself worried with the situation. He has ordered a strict verification of the expenditures and of the payment of the debt to Union Fenosa, to avoid disconnecting ACC from the power grid, which will result in halting the water supply to the population. The mayor has said he will ask for an urgent session of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) to solve the situation.
Several weeks ago, the CMC endorsed the allotment of 16 million lei to “Apa-Canal Chisinau” against of a new stock issuance. The ACC's management considers the situation can be solved only by raising the tariff, since the city's administration can't afford covering the difference between the real costs incurred by ACC and present tariff.
