Chisinau’s ex trolley chief will be reinstated
The Chisinau City Hall (CMC) is obliged to restore Victor Martaniuc, former head of the Electrical Transport Management, to his office, in compliance with a judgment of the Court of Appeals. Martaniuc was sacked in November 2006 by the ex-interim mayor Vasile Ursu.
The issue concerning Martaniuc’s reinstatement was included in the order of the day of the Council’s meeting on Thursday, September 20, but the councillors decided to take a break and postponed the issue until the next meeting on September 25.
On September 12, the Court of Appeals held that Martaniuc’s dismissal had been illegal and ordered the Council to annul the decision naming Vasile Rudai as Martaniuc’s substitute.
Under the judgment, CMC shall pay Martaniuc his lost pays, estimated at about 100,000 lei. In addition, the court awarded the plaintiff about 10,000 lei in terms of non-pecuniary damage and confirmed his salary at the level of the previous one – about 10,000 lei. Moreover, CMC shall pay 2,700 for trial taxes.
Over the past half a year, court decisions have reinstated deputy mayor Mihai Furtuna, CMC Secretary Vladimir Sarban, Chisinau Chief Architect Vladimir Modarca, Urban Control Department’s head Gheorghe Raileanu, and others.
