Chisinau's mayor Dorin Chirtoaca has asked the deputy head of the Education Division, Gheorghe Suceveanu, for a written explanation “for systematically failing to carry out his duties.” At Tuesday's staff meeting at the city hall, Suceveanu said only 5 students from 2 Chisinau-based high schools had been arrested after the April 7 protests. At the same time, the head of the Local Public Administration Division, Alexandra Motpan, said there would have been some 14 children taken into police's custody, Info-Prim Neo reports. Dorin Chirtoaca insisted that “when there is a matter of children's life, it's necessary to display a serious approach as to these issues.” The information presented by the Education Division's officials is “a mockery,” the mayor said. After the sitting, he said the officials may get fired for such an attitude. Written explanations shall be submitted by the head of the Education Direction, Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, too. The deputy head of the Education, Youth and Sports Generation Direction, has specified he's got the information from all the high schools from the capital and it will be verified additionally.
