Chisinau Municipal Council approved Thursday November 23 in first reading the Chisinau municipality’s budget for 2007. According to data from the General Finance Division, its increase compared to this year is of 3.6%, the income totaling to 1 bln 273 mln lei. As for expenses, the increase constitutes 3.1% and the approved sum is of 1 bln 292 mln lei. The budget deficit for next year is of 19.1mln lei. In order to increase the revenue, CMC formed a special commission that will draw up a plan of actions in this respect. It is composed of the heads of the Council’s specialized commissions and faction leaders. Head of the General Finance Division Tatiana Cunetchi said at the CMC’s session that next year the municipality is exempted from deductions in the state budget for the fund of territories’ support. This year the municipality transferred to this fund a sum of 190 mln lei. The capital investments included in the budget for the coming year comprise 87 mln lei. Municipal Council allowed through the general mayor’s order to delegate functions of beneficiary to suburban halls, with a view to performing renovation works of the buildings belonging to the institutions funded from local budgets, if their cost does not exceed 1 mln lei. The same permission is available for the Education, Youth and Sports Divisions in the districts. The councilors backed these initiatives for the reason that the Capital Constructions Division does not manage to cope with all these works. The Budget of Chisinau municipality is to be approved in the second reading.
