Chisinau’s authorities refuse to authorize protests so that Day of Wine would not be endangered
The City Hall of the municipality of Chisinau rejected on Monday, October 2 the solicitation of the Social Liberal Party (PSL) to organize on October 8 a protest march against the continuous propaganda process in the educational system, on the whole, and in the content of the integrated history textbooks, in particular.
According to a press release of PSL, the protest march had to start in the Great National Assembly Square and to end with a protest in front of the Academy of Science. The pretext claimed by the City Hall in order to reject the solicitation submitted by PSL was the organization by the communist authorities of the Day of Wine.
Present at the meeting City Hall’s commission, MP Igor Klipii, general secretary of PSL, expressed his regret regarding the attitude of authorities towards history. “It is regrettable that the central and local public authorities are more concerned with organization of the wine party, than of the Day of Romanian Language”, the MP declared.
In this context, the Social-Liberal Party declares itself solidary with the initiative of the Association of Historians of Moldova to organize on Wednesday, October 11, a protest on the same issue and calls on political forces, as well as the civil society to come to support the national values.
The Association of Historians from Moldova (AIM) is decided to organize on October 11, a protest action in the square of the Opera and Ballet Theater from Chisinau, after which it will stay in front of the Ministry of Education and Youth for several days as a protest against the introduction of the integrated history course in the pre-higher education system.
