Chisinau’s anthem will be played in original on City’s Day
The anthem of Chisinau on October 14 will be played in the Great National Assembly Square in the original, as performed by Sofia Rotaru in 1971, but slightly adapted, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that owing to the tight schedule of the singer, they did not manage to rerecord the song as announced earlier. But composer Anatol Chiriac worked on the old recording and improved it.
“We sent an invitation to Missis Sofia Rotaru and asked her to come to Chisinau when she can. As far as I know, her program is full until the end of the year. We hope she will come next year,” said the mayor.
He also said that besides the original recording, there are also other interpretations. One of them – by soprano Valentina Nafornitsa and Mihai Dogotari, was played for the first time on the Language Day on August 31 this year. On October 14, the anthem may be also sung by Olga Busuioc and Igor Stribitski.
Late in March, Dorin Chirtoaca said he invited Sofia Rotaru to Chisinau to rerecord the song “My City”, which is the anthem of Chisinau. He stated then that the song is to be rerecorded before the 575th anniversary of the foundation of Chisinau that is marked this year. He also said the quality of sound should be improved and there should be made a video of the song in a new interpretation.
The song “My City” was launched in 1971. The verses were written by Gheorghe Voda, while the music by Eugen Doga. It became Chisinau’s anthem in June 1998.
