The Chisinau Zoo will undergo upgrades starting next year. On Friday, December 22, the Chisinau Municipal Council approved a three-year upgrade project, until 2021, IPN reports.
The Zoo improvement works will start with the institution’s unmanaged territory. After the animals are be transferred to the new territory, spaces that currently host them will undergo upgrades as well. The Zoo management team also wants to set up more playgrounds for children, two restaurants and four washroom facilities.
The Zoo will be a place not only for leisure, but also for scientific research. To that end, a club for junior biologists and zoologists will be founded, and an amphitheater will be built, where visitors will have the opportunity to watch movies and engage in interactive learning.
Chisinau Zoo Director Alexei Hanţaţuc stated that the upgrades to the institution will also allow it to host more species of animals in the future.
The Zoo spreads over a surfaces of 14 ha.
