A woman from Chisinau is suspected of committing a number of swindles. The Chisinau Police Division said that the 33-year-old woman swindled at least 20 persons out of €350-400 each on the pretext of obtaining visas and documents needed for getting a job abroad, IPN reports.
During the investigation, it was established that the woman rented an office in Rascani district of Chisinau, where she produced dubious documents needed for going abroad. The clients who paid the required sums were issued with receipts, but they didn’t have legal value.
The victims told the police that when abroad they could not get the job promised by the woman as the employer didn’t answer the phone. When back in Moldova, the persons unsuccessfully tried to get the spent money back.
The woman faces a fine of 10,000 to 20,000 lei or two to six years in jail for swindle. Based on the court decision, the suspect is investigated on the outside.
