Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca ordered drawing up a map of the historical center of the capital city. The plan is to be completed in a week and will be then made public, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the chief architect of Chisinau Vlad Modarca, the capital city needs a register that will include architectural monuments of local importance. There is a list of monuments, but it has never been reappraised. Deputy mayor Nistor Grozavu stressed that the monuments of local importance must be also included in the register of real estate. “We must delimit the historical center of Chisinau. The streets should also be written in the register of monuments of local importance,” said Dorin Chirtoaca. He instructed placing by a plate with information on the historical monuments. This may be done from next month. According to the Monument Inspection and Restoration Agency, about 80 historical monuments have been taken down during the last 10 years. There are no more than 1,000 monuments left in the center of Chisinau.
