The company “Apa-Canal Chisinau” said the priorities for 2018 include the reduction in the number of water leaks, including the hidden ones, and, as a result, the diminution of water losses. For the purpose, the supplier bought 30 noise level and frequency loggers for detecting water leaks at the price of about 500,000 lei, IPN reports.
In a press release, the company said the devices prove their efficiency. Last month alone, there were identified 11 hidden leaks and 30 visible faults.
The devices are installed inside water networks and detect fissures at night. The data can be interpreted on the spot and do not need to be processed through a computer. Thus, the losses are localized and confirmed immediately and the company’s specialists can swiftly intervene to fix the problem.
The noise level and frequency loggers help to reduce not only water losses, but also the intervention time. The number of pipeline accidents has decreased to 3,300 since the start of this year. Most of the accidents occur in pipes with a small diameter, of 0-200 mm.
The time for dealing with faults declined by almost four hours compared with 2017, to 19.6 hours. Consequently, the losses diminished and this is shown in the reports presented by the company to the National Agency for Energy Regulation.
