The General Division of Transport and Communication Ways of the Chisinau Municipal Council estimate that a sum of about 50 mln lei is necessary to carry out current repair on the streets before the cold season of the year. This money will be enough to patch up the streets, says the Division’s head Veaceslav Tarna. The money should come as an additional allotment from the local budget because the resources planned for maintaining the streets this year are very small. Furthermore, a large part of the resources designed for roads, 5 mln lei, went to settle the debts for the previous years and 10 mln lei was used to clear local authorities’ debts to “Termocom” JSC, Tarna said. The 50 mln lei would be enough to repair all the streets in the capital city, including the ones inside quarters and in suburbs, in compliance with the requirements formulated by the district’s head offices and suburban mayor’s offices. During discussions about this matter, the Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that if the roads are not repaired until winter, the repair costs in spring will be much higher. No source for covering these expenses was identified yet. The issue will be discussed by the Chisinau Municipal Council at one of its future meetings.
