Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs John Baird will pay an official visit to Moldova on March 31, at the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman. The visit by a Canadian official of such a rank is the first in the history of the bilateral relations. Also on Monday, Romanian Foreign Minister Titus Corlatean will come to Chisinau to take part in the second session of the Moldovan-Romanian intergovernmental commission for European integration, IPN reports.
According to a communiqué from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Natalia Gherman and John Baird in a meeting discussed the political and political-economic cooperation and the attraction of Canadian investments to the national economy. The program of the Canadian minister’s visit includes meetings with President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, Head of Parliament Igor Corman and Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov.
During Titus Corlatean’s visit to Chisinau, there will be signed a number of bilateral agreements on cooperation in retransmitting program services of public broadcasters, the cooperation between the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority of Romania and the National Food Safety Agency of Moldova, and the cooperation between the National Institute of Magistrature of Romania and the National Institute of Justice of Moldova.
The Romanian official will have meetings with President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, Head of Parliament Igor Corman, and Deputy Prime Minister Natalia Gherman.
