Chisinau to host Nation Health Forum next week

The third Nation Health Forum will take place in Chisinau on October 23-24. The event is organized in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO) with the financial support of the EU Delegation to Moldova and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), IPN reports.

The official opening of the event will be attended by President Nicolae Timofti, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, Deputy Head of Parliament Liliana Plaihovici and Minister of Health Andrei Usatyi as well as by the WHO Representative in Moldova Jarno Habicht, EU Ambassador in Chisinau Pirkka Tapiola and the SDC Country Representative Simone Giger.

On the first day, the forum will center on the accomplishments obtained in the health system in 2013-2014, the commitments for the immediate period, the key areas for intervention for ensuring the sustainable development of the health sector and reducing inequality in this sector. The next day, there will be discussed such issues as the improvement of the system for managing the quality and safety of medical services, financing policies aimed at satisfying the people’s needs of medical services, the employment of qualified medical staff following the healthcare sector reform.
