Chisinau to host Moldova-EU Co-operation Committee
The VIII meeting of the Moldova-EU Parliamentary Co-operation Committee, to take place tomorrow in Chisinau, will assess Moldova’s performances in implementing the final stage of the Moldova-EU Action Plan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration reported.
The meeting agenda will focus of the implementation of the Action Plan and will address in particular the following issues: political dialogue and reforms, economic growth and social development, trade, regulatory reforms and customs-related co-operation, co-operation concerning justice and home affairs, transport, energy sector, information society policies and environmental issues, interhuman relations, and others.
The meeting will be chaired by Valeriu Ostalep, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, and co-chaired by Hilde Hardeman, Head of Unit for Relations with Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus at the European Commission’s External Relations Directorate.
The three-year Moldova-EU Action Plan was signed in February 2005. Whereas the Moldovan authorities maintain that the Plan has been almost entirely fulfilled by now, independent experts and especially the Opposition claim that the authorities have in fact simulated the fulfilment of the plan in order to “pull the wool over Brussels’s eyes”.
