The vice president of the World Amateur K-1 Federation Dorin Damir on October 9 announced that the future European Amateur K-1 Championship will take place in Chisinau on May 1-4, 2014. The competition will involve athletes from over 25 countries, IPN reports.
“We received the consent of the Ministry of Youth and Sport and coordinated everything with the European federation. The European championship will be held in Chisinau on May 1-4, 2014,” Dorin Damir told a news conference.
On October 3 – 6, the national amateur K-1 team took part in the Would Cup held in Riga, where it won 19 medals. Nine athletes won golds. The winners among seniors were Dragos Zubco, Ion Mihalceanu, and Alexandru Lupusor.
Moldova’s squad consisted of 21 athletes from the teams Lion, Taurus, Champion Thai Gum, Thai Boxing Club and Bercut. Only two of them remained without medals. In the medals rankings, Moldova took the fourth position, after Russia, Estonia, and Belarus.
