Chisinau to host annual Media Forum Nov. 4 and 5

The 2019 Media Forum will take place în Chisinau during November 4 and 5 and will bring together journalists, editors, media managers, advertisers, members of the academia and other professionals.

The Forum is an annual event organized by the Moldovan Press Council, in partnership with the Independent Press Association, the Independent Journalism Association, and the Electronic Press Association. Based on preliminary registration, which will open on October 7, the organizers will select up to 150 participants for this year’s Forum.

The Forum will have several panels, where participants will be able to discuss specific issues with representatives from Parliament, Government and governmental agencies. The results of the panel discussions will be compiled into a common resolution proposed for adoption by the Forum. The resolution will be then forwarded to the national authorities, foreign embassies, and international organizations monitoring democratic developments in Moldova.

Traditionally, the Forum will have a number of workshops and masterclasses featuring foreign journalists from Lithuania, Romania, Poland, Russia, Belarus and Bulgaria, and experts from Deutsche Welle Akademie, Google News Lab, and UN Women Moldova.

Awards ceremonies will be held for the Investigations of the Year, Gender Equality Work, and Journalistic Ethics.

The Media Forum’s main language is Romanian, with translation to Russian and English provided at the opening session and at workshops featuring foreign experts.

The 2019 Media Forum is funded by the Soros Moldova Foundation’s Mass Media Program and co-financed by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom, DW Akademie, and UN Women Moldova.
