Chisinau City Hall will purchase larger containers for waste collection. A draft decision in this regard was unanimously voted by the municipal councillors, at the meeting on September 17, IPN reports.

The draft mentions that it is necessary to purchase 700 containers with a volume of 1.1 m3, at an estimated price of four million lei. They are needed to replace the damaged containers, but also to partially substitute the old dumpsters with a volume of 0.75 m3.

Every day, about five thousand cubic meters of waste are evacuated from the city. During 2018, over 1700 cubic meters of waste were evacuated, including about 600 thousand cubic meters from economic agents.

There are more than 10 400 containers in the city, including 3500 European-type containers (1.1 m3).
