The Chisinau municipality will buy 31 new buses from the Turkish automotive company Anadolu Isuzu, after the official dealership Unipay Danișmanlik Yazilim Teknolojileri was selected as the winning bidder in a public tender.
The City Council has earmarked 80 million lei for the purchase.
The choice fell on Isuzu Citiport, a Euro 6 standard diesel transit bus with a capacity of 106 passengers. The 12 meters long, three-door vehicle features a low floor and ramps, making it accessible for passengers with special needs, the elderly and parents with baby transport. They also come with air conditioning and audiovisual information equipment.
The same model was picked last year by Romanian municipalities like Constanta, Iasi and Sibiu.|
Last time the Chisinau Bus Company bought vehicles, a MAN model, was in 2006. It now operates a fleet of 95 buses, most of them very old, on 22 routes. The company spends annually 15 million lei on current repairs.
