The teenagers in Chisinau municipality are assisted in choosing the future profession and getting the priorities right in order to be successful in life. The Municipal Professional Orientation and Information Center works under the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a meeting of the Division, the Center’s head Eugenia Stircea said an accomplishment last year was the fact that they managed to work with class masters from 60 schools, as against teachers from only 17 schools in 2010. Eugenia Stircea said that April is named the Month of My Career and open door events are held in the period in a number of higher and vocational education institutions. Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport, said that this professional guidance center allows reducing the number of cases when students with an average grade of 5.5 enter high schools. “Many parents said they don’t know where their children should go after they finish the secondary school and thus take them to lyceums, without knowing that the level of studies there is different. This center aims to help the students discover their abilities,” she stated. According to Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb, the child mustn’t believe that he is not good at doing something and that society does not need him. “One should not force a child to do something. If he studies at a vocational school he then can decide what to do in the future. The center works first of all with class masters, but can also provide information to students and their parents, if they seek help,” she stated. The Municipal Professional Orientation and Information Center is located in Chisinau’s Ciocana district, at 3/2 Petru Zadnipru St. Another similar center was opened in Hincesti. In the future, it is planned to set up more such centers, at least by one in every district of the country.
