The Chisinau administration will continue to pay 130 lei a month in financial assistance to employees of the municipal education institutions. A decision to this effect was approved by the Chisinau Municipal Council on February 10, Info-Prim Neo reports. Veronica Herta, head of the General Finance Division, said the assistance will be provided in three tranches – in March, June, September and December. The teachers, educators and other employees of education institutions will receive 1,560 lei for the whole year. The total costs amount to over 1 million lei, Veronica Herta said. Th councilors said they will consider providing such assistance to other budget-paid employees in the future, including librarians, social workers and employees of municipal theaters. But they are yet to identify the necessary financial resources. In May 2010, the CMC decided to offer by 130 lei a month in assistance to teachers instead of the yearly 20% pay rise covered from the municipal budget.
