Chisinau students came to classes without medical certificates
{The students that went to classes today had to present certificates from the family doctor, showing that
they are in good health. Info-Prim Neo conducted a survey among principals of Chisinau high schools to see how the students complied with the Health Ministryʾs ordinance aimed at preventing the spread of the A (H1N1) flu virus.}
[Maria Garstea, director of Onisifor Ghibu lyceum:] “Many children are still visiting their parents in Italy, Greece and other countries. We are aware of the situation in our high school. The students who knew brought medical certificates, while those who did not will probably present them soon. Anyway it is not an obstacle for not coming to classes. The class masters supervise the students and know whatʾs going on. Only three children have brought certificates from the family doctor so far. Nine students were absent today. Attendance is rather good. Four students did not come on health grounds, while five had other objective reasons.”
[Victor Ambroci, director of Spiru Haret lyceum:] “I donʾt think there will be a great danger if not all the students present the medical certificate. We are more concerned about those who have recently returned from abroad. There are few of them in our school. The class masters inform us about the condition of the students. Starting with tomorrow, we will identify those who came from abroad recently. Everything is under control. Attendance is very good.”
[Tamara Parau, deputy director of Dante Alighieri :] “It is not mandatory for the students to show this medical certificate. Besides the main topic “Moldova – My Old Country”, at the first class today we also discussed the A (H1N1) flu virus. The children know the protection and prevention measures . It is impossible to make all the children bring a medical certificate. They do not manage to consult all the doctors and perform all the tests. This issue was discussed at a meeting of the Chisinau City Hall as well. I heard that a group of doctors will visit the schools. We will be expecting them.”
[Aliona Teutu, deputy director on education at Gheorghe Asachi lyceum:] “As far as I know, the medical certificate is not obligatory. Only the students who returned from abroad must present it. In our lyceum, there are not many families that can afford going abroad on vacation, maybe only 2 or 3 students in every class. Those that have to will soon present the certificate.
[Mihai Moldovanu, the Chisinau Health Divisionʾs head], said that only the students that returned from abroad 7 days ago should present medical certificates. Usually, every kindergarten and school has a doctor who supervises the students. “We will help the institutions that will not manage to do this. We will keep the situation under control,” Mihai Moldovanu said.
