The center for the accommodation of homeless persons, situated on Haltei St in Chisinau, is filled to capacity. Additional folding beds were brought there in order to cope with the high number of applicants. On January 26, 97 people spent the night there, at a time when the center has a capacity of 70 places, acting head of the General Social Assistance Division Valeriu Negru said in the January 27 meeting of officials of Chisinau divisions and services, quoted by IPN.

The municipal authorities promised that they will find money to extend the center by building an extension. Mayor Dorin Chirtoaca asked that the food ration for the homeless be increased during the cold period.

Oleg Pisica, deputy head of the Emergencies Division, said about 2,000 people without a home visited the six tents put up in the districts of Chisinau to warm themselves up there.
