The works to prepare the preuniversity education institutions in Chisinau for the 2009 - 2010 cold season have been 99% completed, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport. The remaining volume of work does not affect the education process. There were repaired the roofs of 52 education institutions and the sanitary equipment and heating systems of 35 institutions. General repair works have been carried out in 45 schools. The maintenance works in 202 institutions cost over 5 million lei, while the extensive repair works in 101 institutions - over 20 million lei. 160 tonnes of coal worth over 360,000 lei have been bought for the institutions that have autonomous heating systems. A sum of about 4 million lei went to purchase building materials, furniture and technological equipment. Over 500,000 lei of this sum was used to buy new computers. The General Division of Education, Youth and Sport says that over 77,000 children go to school in the municipality of Chisinau. Sixteen children remained out of school by October. Six of them went abroad, two are vagrants, while one is being transferred to an auxiliary school.
