Chisinau residents waiting for sports ground promised by authorities in yard

The inhabitants living at 76/6 Albisoara St in Chisinau’s Rascani district have been waiting for the sports ground promised by the local authorities for a year. The promise was made after the dwellers won the contest “Cleanest Yard”. Under the regulations, the winners were able to ask for carrying out laying out works in their backyard to the value of 100,000 lei.

Contacted by IPN, the head of Rascani district Mihai Carlig said that the fitness ground asked by the people living at the mentioned address was to be laid out last December, but the works were postponed owing to technical problems.

Deputy mayor Vlad Cotet told the Agency’s reporter that they now do not have money for the purpose as the municipal budget wasn’t approved in the final reading yet. There are also other, more important problems.

Maria Maleavschi, head of the homebuilding cooperative No. 138 that manages that block, stated for IPN that the dwellers invested over 25,000 lei in the repair of the building’s stairs and sidewalks and in other laying out works. This way they managed to win the contest, but remained only with authorities’ promises. The people are discontented with the created situation and are losing confidence in the authorities. “The budget for 2013 wasn’t approved, but the money promised within the contest was budgeted for 2012,” said Maria Maleavschi.

The “Cleanest Yard” contest was launched by the Chisinau City Hall in March 2012.
